Cyclists

We gave cyclists their own page because there are so many in the sport, and we all suffer from common injuries.2Bikes

Professional and amateur cyclists use the muscles of the legs, glutes and hip flexors in many different ways – pushing, pulling, shortening, lengthening, tensing and relaxing – over and over again. Massage therapy provides these muscles with a chance to heal after this kind of high repetitive exercise. Some of the issues which massage therapy can help are the following:

  • Controlling cramping  –  by improving circulation and proper cellular fluid exchange.
  • Piriformis Syndrome –  a condition experienced by riders of all levels which can mimic Sciatica.
  • Muscle imbalances – by keeping the muscle, fascia and other soft tissues healthy and aligned, the body can perform peak levels.
  • Faster recovery  – flushing out lactic acid and other waste by products of strenuous exercise will help promote healthy muscle
    tone.

This is a small list of some of the more common injuries which cyclists experience.   We’ve treated many other injuries with massage therapy as well.
